Fashion takes centre stage on Adelaide Cup Day
The style stakes have never been higher at South Australia’s most popular race day, The UBET Adelaide Cup on Monday 12 March, as Morphettville hosts its very first Fashions on the Field competition.
Normally presented by Myer Fashions on the Field, changes to its nationwide competition means Morphettville gets to host its very own unique Fashions on the Field event for the first
time.
Expert judges on the day include Chris Kontos – Creative Director of the Adelaide Fashion Festival, Kate Whiting – Face of the Adelaide Cup Campaign, Anna Vlach – Fashion Editor at the Advertiser, and Michelle Greene – Thoroughbred Racing South Australia Industry Marketing Manager, all searching for Adelaide Cup’s most stylish racegoers.
The total prize pool on the day is worth an impressive $8,700, with four categories for the most stylish women and man.
The winner on the day will take home $1000 cash, Rado Coupole stainless steel women’s watch from Graham’s Jewellers (RRP $1600), a Discovery Package for two at Hentley Farm Restaurant and a Magnum of Beauty Shiraz (RRP $750) along with Quay Australia Sunglasses and a $300 Tatiana Light Voucher. There will also be many more great quality prizes up for grabs for 1st and 2nd runners up.
Another first for Adelaide Cup will be the chance for the gents to compete for the title of best dressed male. The winner will take home two Audi Club tickets, Hill of Grace booking and $300 TAB card for round 11 (Crows V GWS) courtesy of Audi Solitaire, Gucci G Chorno Chronograph Mens watch from Graham’s Jewellers (RRP $1930), Hentley Farm Beast Shiraz (RRP $350) and Quay Australia Sunglasses.
Expert judge Chris Kontos said he was looking forward to seeing what Adelaide racegoers have to offer in the style stakes.
“Fashions on the field is a real showcase for those passionate about fashion racewear as it offers a chance to be bold, take risks and really inject some interesting personality into an outfit.
“We do hope to see some creativity and risk-taking from both the ladies and gents come Adelaide Cup Day.”
Ladies and gentlemen dressing to impress are encouraged to enter on the day. Registration will be open from 11.00am – 1.00pm on the Derby Lawns. The event will commence at approximately 1.10pm.
Judging criteria will be based on originality and confidence, appropriateness of outfit for the UBET Adelaide Cup, attention to detail with accessories, the ability to embrace current fashion trends, grooming and deportment.
