Morphettville Wrap Up

19 June 2023

No racing at headquarters over the weekend, however Morphettville trainers managed to notch up a few wins across Balaklava (14 June) and Murray Bridge (17 June), including the Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable continuing to stretch their Premiership lead as we head towards the end of the season.

BALAKLAVA

Queen in the North broke her maiden for the Jolly stable, with Richard happy to see her cross the line first.

“She’s been racing well but kept running in to a couple of better ones.

“Her form has been good and honest, so it was good to see her get a good run today,” he said.

Start number 10 for Lord George saw a second win for the Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle stable. Damien Moyle said they were happy to drop him in distance for this race and it paid off.

“He shows a bit of speed out of the gates and was in for the fight which was good to see,” he said.

Jon O’Connor’s Run and Tell crossed the line first under apprentice, Britney Wong, holding off a strong finish from Enlist and Jason Cannon’s Zoustorm to win by a length.

MURRAY BRIDGE

The newly acquired Travis Doudle-trained Pegasi saluting in the first, edging out Phillip Stokes’, Evening Bride.

Richard and Chantelle Jolly continued with their stranglehold on the 2022/23 Premiership season with Pudding (Race 3) and Jacks on Ice (Race 7) showing their class and making it back-to-back wins for the stable.

Annihilate also made it back-to-back wins as he was ridden home in a close finish by Teagan Voorham for the Chris Bieg stable.

The Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle stable continued on their recent run of wins with race favourite, Bristler being steered home by Lachlan Neindorf.

Racing returns to Morphettville this weekend as we see a nine-race card on the main track, with gates opening at 10:15am.
