Prince Jofra flourishing with new stable

13 September 2023

For Travis Doudle, it was an easy decision to add five-year-old gelding Prince Jofra to his stables.

Since joining Doudle’s stables, the gelding has had three runs at metro level winning at his last two starts.

“He’s a really nice horse in the making,” he said.

“He’s lightly framed but is doing really well in our program and continuing to grow each time we work with him.

“Through Struck By and Merchant Boss, we’ve had a lot of success with Prince Jofra’s owners, so I was lucky to secure him and add him to my stable,” he said.

Doudle has had great success both in SA and across the border in the past season, taking on Country Cups in Victoria with Not Usual Glorious (NUG) and winning three Cups as well as the Country Racing Victoria Horse of the Year. And he is looking at a similar path for Prince Jofra.

“He has been very impressive with his two wins, and we are now targeting one or two Country (Victorian) cups.

“From there we will see how he goes and look to bringing him back for the John Letts Cup at the end of October.

“Across the Spring we will send a couple to Melbourne (NUG to Caulfield and Struck By to Flemington), but locally we will be targeting the TAB Finals in November with four or five from the stable jumping out over the next week,” he said.

The Spring Racing Carnival at Morphettville will be held across six race meetings that coincide with the big Melbourne races between October 14 – November 11. Tickets and packages are available now.
