Morphettville is preparing for the final and most anticipated day of the 2025 Sportsbet Adelaide Racing Carnival on Saturday, the Sportsbet Goodwood Day.
With the day set to deliver an unforgettable mix of elite racing, entertainment, and family fun, the Sportsbet Goodwood caps off a thrilling racing series showcasing the best jockeys and horses from across the country.
Among the headlines is Giga Kick, the Clayton Douglas-trained gelding boasting two Group 1 wins from just 15 starts. Meanwhile the Phillip Stokes mares, Climbing Star and Stretan Angel, will be eyeing off another Group 1 success for the stable. The latter will be ridden by local story, Lachie Niendorf, who will be looking to back up his impressive first-place finish on Femminile in the SA Derby last Saturday. His first Group 1 win came in last year’s Sportsbet Robert Sangster Stakes where he rode Climbing Star to the ultimate success.
West Australian, Simon Miller, will return to Morphettville after bringing Amelia’s Jewel to the Goodwood in 2024, this time with his four-year-old mare Generosity who comes off a recent third in the Quokka. Victorian product, Charm Stone, will look to replicate her Robert Sangster Stakes victory for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, this time with Ben Melham in the saddle.
Off-track, the Champions Balcony will come to life with a seasonal and locally sourced menu curated by Morphettville Executive Chef, Steven Clark. The five-hour package will also see guests treated to an insightful star-studded panel led by MC Jarrod Walsh, featuring former champion jockey Simon Marshall, AFL great Bernie Vince, and Adelaide Crows premiership player Anne Hatchard.
The family fun continues with the FREE Family Zone boasting a petting zoo, pony rides, glitter tattoos and face painting. Meanwhile, Sportsbet’s Putt for Dough is back for its final instalment this series with the full $100k still up for grabs after no successful putts in the opening two weeks. Race goers over the age of 18 are eligible to take one putt per day.
