Persistence really did pay off on Saturday with More Than Hope holding on for a thrilling victory in the Sportsbet Jockey Watch Handicap (1250m) at Morphettville Parks.
Jockey Rochelle Milnes guided the three-year-old to a frontrunning win, outlasting Mrs Secombe on the line for trainer Cody Reardon.
More Than Hope was passed in at the 2024 Adelaide Yearling Sale for $60,000, with breeder Ralph Satchell electing to race the gelding himself.

It was also a huge day for Stephanie Lacy, who claimed her first metro win as a trainer, with City Pro saluting in The Fotobase Group Maiden Plate (1250m) with jockey Todd Pannell on board.
It was Lacy’s second win as a trainer, after Miss Gabbiano opened her account with a win in Balaklava in July last year.
In-form mare Miss Slipstream notched a hat-trick of wins for trainer Jeff Searle in the Quayclean Handicap (1000m), while Bring Forth destroyed his rivals by over four lengths in a commanding win in the Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap (2294m) for trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr.
Jilladora looked impressive winning the Charlie Hoile Handicap (Heat of Adelaide In Autumn Series) (1400m) for trainer Justin Pickering.
Jockeys Jason Holder and Jake Toeroek shared riding honours, scoring a double each on the 10-race card.
Holder opened the meeting with victory aboard The Speed Machine in the Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1000m) before leading Omaha Dawn to success in the Croser Handicap (1000m).
Toeroek led Pudding to a near one length triumph in the Lowe’s Meat Co Mt Barker Handicap (1400m), then was aboard Streetcar Apollo to salute in the Thomas Farms Handicap (Heat 2 of Festival State Sprint Series) (1250m).
