The first race of the 2024/25 season at headquarters sees the second running of the Group 3 Behemoth Stakes feature on a nine-race card. With an electric start to the month, we take a look at what’s on in August across Morphettville.
The race day on August 10 will also host the final Hooves and Vines Winter Wine Series Luncheon with featured winery, Elderton. An exquisite four-course meal paired perfectly with both wines from the Barossa Valley and new luxe trackside location, The Lounge, within the Wolf Blass Event Centre.

Black type racing returns to Morphettville on August 24 with the running of the Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes. Leon’s contribution to racing in South Australia speaks for itself, the champion trainer called time on his career with a total of 1,276 wins, including 11 Group 1s.
It’s another race early in the season that will springboard horses into the highly anticipated Spring Racing Carnival, with a number of interstate horses likely to be targeting the race.
August 31 celebrates the spirit of Ireland at the Irish Race Day at Morphettville, where a festive atmosphere meets thrilling horse racing action. Enjoy a full day of premium hospitality that includes entry into the racecourse and a delectable two-course lunch with 5-hour drink package (including Guinness) in The Lounge.
For those seeking a lively atmosphere, the Betting Ring will feature an Irish pop-up bar makeover offering pints of Guinness and DJ spinning tunes from the Diva Deck.
