Awards for Morphettville chefs and facilities

15 October 2024

Morphettville has added to its trophy cabinet over the weekend, with Adelaide’s home of racing taking home two major accolades at the prestigious Clubs SA Clubs & Community Awards.

Morphettville’s new $21 million Wolf Blass ‘The Man’ Event Centre was named Best Function/Event Venue in the state, while Sous Chef Sarah Jones was awarded Club Chef of the Year for her work at the club’s bistro pub offering, The Junction.

Morphettville had eight nominees up for awards at the prestigious event, including four chefs.

Morphettville CEO Grant Mayer said the accolades underlined the club’s renewed focus on guest experience.

“We want every guest to associate Morphettville with exceptional event experiences – knowing they’ll have a great time whether they’re trackside with their mates at a race day, at a charity gala in the glittering Wolf Blass Event Centre or enjoying a music festival on our expansive lawns,” Mr Mayer said.

“To achieve that, we’ve invested heavily not only in new facilities but in our people, particularly our front of house service staff and our culinary team.

“The dividends have been immediate – the Event Centre is booked out for extensive periods into next year and beyond, our chefs are continually winning awards, and our guest feedback is skyrocketing.

“These awards are further confirmation that we’re building something special here at Morphettville and I couldn’t be prouder of our team.”

The Wolf Blass Event Centre boasts a number of immaculately appointed spaces with space for up to 1,000 delegates across the entire centre, or 600 seated in its main dining room with sweeping views of the racecourse and Adelaide Hills. The venue has also been listed as a finalist in the Business Event Venue category at the upcoming South Australian Tourism Awards.

Member facilities on Level 2 of the grandstand are currently under refurbishment with architectural updates to the interior, kitchen upgrades and stylish new furniture – perfect for race days and events alike.

Beyond the track, thriving bistro pub The Junction has refreshed its casual dining menu in line with Morphettville’s commitment to excellence in food and wine.

“If you haven’t been to Morphettville recently, we’d invite you to come and rediscover it,” Mr Mayer said.

“We think you’ll find that while the heart and energy of a great race day never change, our staff and facilities are set to transform your expectations of what a racecourse can deliver.”
