Final Race Day at Morphettville

25 July 2024

It’s the final race day of the 2023/24 season at Headquarters this Saturday, and it is going to finish with a bang on and off the track.
Off the track, last year’s sell out winter wine lunch series, Hooves and Vines, returns to a luxe new trackside location The Lounge within the Wolf Blass Event Centre.

Featuring Hentley Farm Wines, attendees will be treated to a carefully curated four-course menu, perfectly matched with both wine pairings and a prime on-course location nearby the finishing post where runners thunder home. There are limited tickets remaining, so book today.

On the track, we see the final black type race of the season with the two and three year olds battle it out in the Sportsbet Lightning Stakes.
It promises to be an exciting race that will see eight last start winners take on the 1050m sprint.

Interstate raiders will be looking to put in a strong showing with Whistlefield (Tom Dabernig), Mighty (Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman) and Arabian Summer (Tony & Calvin McEvoy) all crossing the border to take on local hopes Kuroyanagi (Will Clarken & Niki O’Shea), Aviatris (Richard & Chantelle Jolly) and Lingani (Peter & Belinda Blanch) who has hit a purple patch of form.

Another highly anticipated on-track story to play out is the Metro Trainer Premiership, with the Richard & Chantelle Jolly and Will Clarken & Niki O’Shea stables currently tied on 43 wins each.

It’s been a back-and-forth contest for the past couple of months, and with both stables boasting multiple winning opportunities on Saturday as well as one of Australia’s best jockeys, Jamie Kah, returning to Morphettville to ride for Clarken & O’Shea, the scene is set for a great battle across the day.

If you’re planning to come along to catch some live racing action, you can pre-purchase your tickets here.
