Croser Morphettville Fashions – Judging Criteria

We are looking forward to the Spring Racing edition of Croser Morphettville Fashions, which will be held on Caulfield Cup Day, Saturday 19 October.

To assist with creating that WOW piece that is going to capture the eyes of the judges, we have a refreshed Spring Racing specific set of Judging criteria for this season.

Best Dressed – for the ladies

  • Style and originality
  • Traditional spring race wear look
  • Seasonally appropriate millinery that complements outfit
  • Grooming and presentation
  • Attention to detail with accessories ie clutch/bag, brooch, earrings etc
  • Open toe, high heeled sandals
  • Outfit to compliment the weather
  • Sleeveless, one shoulder, short to mid sleeves, thicker shoulder straps (usually at least 1 inch+ in width)

For a standout look, focus on blending style and originality with a traditional spring racewear aesthetic. Opt for seasonally appropriate millinery that complements your outfit and ensure meticulous grooming and presentation. Pay close attention to detail with accessories, such as clutches, brooches, and earrings, to enhance your ensemble. Choose open-toe, high-heeled sandals to complete your outfit, and select clothing that suits the weather, ensuring comfort and elegance. For tops and dresses, consider sleeveless designs, one-shoulder styles, or those with short to mid-length sleeves and thicker shoulder straps (at least 1 inch wide) for a polished and sophisticated appearance.

Millinery will be judged based on several key criteria. The hat should be crafted from seasonally appropriate fabric, ensuring it complements the overall outfit harmoniously. Attention to detail and high craftsmanship are essential, with each piece demonstrating precision and skill. The millinery must be eye-catching and original, standing out with its unique design and visual appeal. Grooming and presentation are also crucial, reflecting the overall polish and sophistication of the look. The choice of materials and design elements, whether florals, prints, soft pastels, or bold, bright colours, should enhance the overall ensemble, contributing to a cohesive and impressive appearance.
