SAJC Welcomes New Board Additions

The South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Directors to its Board, Nicolle Rantanen-Reynolds as Member Director (Casual Vacancy) and Matt Lloyde as Independent Director. Both appointments remain subject to approval by Consumer and Business Services (CBS) in accordance with governance requirements.

Following a competitive and rigorous recruitment process, these appointments further strengthen the Club’s governance, leadership capability, and strategic direction.

“The quality of applicants for both roles was exceptional,” said SAJC Chairman, Judith Jones.

“We’re thrilled to welcome two highly accomplished professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge, leadership and racing industry insight to the SAJC Board.”

Nicolle brings deep experience in governance, finance, and strategic oversight, through key roles including Chair / President of the Grange Golf Club, Chair of Thoroughbred Racing Northern Territory, Racing Australia Board Member, Golf Australia Board – Chair, People & Culture, Deputy Chair – Greyhound Racing SA, and Chair, Audit and Risk Committee Office of Recreation Sport and Racing (SA Government).

“Nicolle’s combination of racing insight, leadership, and financial governance is a strong strategic fit for the SAJC,” Ms Jones said.

“Her experience will be a great asset to our Members and the wider industry.”

Matt is a senior executive with over 20 years’ experience in national commercial leadership, digital innovation, and stakeholder engagement. As National Manager – Sales, Marketing & Innovation at BlueScope, he oversees a $1B business unit, leading strategy, transformation, and customer experience. He also brings extensive Board experience from Racing SA, Community Business Bureau, Tennis Australia, and Netball South Australia.

“Matt’s track record in strategic planning and audience growth particularly in engaging younger demographics in racing is a strong alignment with SAJC’s future-facing vision,” Ms Jones said.

“He is also a passionate advocate for modernising the racing experience and has actively supported initiatives to broaden the appeal of our industry, particularly among younger audiences.”

Ms Jones said Nicolle and Matt are joining at an exciting time of growth and transformation.

“We are proud to be on track to post yet another profit this financial year, a testament to the strategic foundations we’ve built and our continued focus on value for Members and stakeholders,” Ms Jones added.

The SAJC thanks all seven Members who nominated for the Member Director position, their enthusiasm and dedication to the Club’s future is truly appreciated.

The selection panel comprising of SAJC Chairman, Judith Jones, Vice-Chairman, Christine Simpson, Member Director, Sally Niehuus, and Independent Director, Joc O’Connell — was acknowledged for its integrity and diligence in delivering a transparent and fair appointment process.
