Terry’s Tips – Sportsbet Goodwood Day

7 May 2026

We conclude the 2026 Sportsbet Adelaide Racing Carnival with a nine-race card on Saturday, where the showcase race is the Group 1 Sportsbet Goodwood (1200m).

In the big Group 1 I am cheering for my brother-in-law Andrew Gluyas and Watchme Win.

Seventh in the race last year, Watchme Win is primed to run well again with Jason Holder on board, the 1994 Goodwood winning rider on Ambala for the late Barry Brook.

Flying For Fun was the eye-catching run from the Group 1 Sportsbet Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago and I feel with gun young rider Zac Lloyd returning to ride for trainer Bryce Heys that she is the testing material.

Trainer Phillip Stokes made it back-to-back Thomas Farms SA Derby (2518m) wins last weekend with Wigmore and the stable looks capable of playing a strong hand at Morphettville on the weekend once again.

Singling out some of their better chances, Portarlington, Arran Bay, and Ferivia all standout to me.

Portarlington is the first to step out in Race 3, the Sportsbet David Coles AM Stakes (1200m).

Arran Bay is next up in Race 6, the Hahn Cummings Stakes (Formerly R A Lee Stakes) (1600m) as he tries to go one better than his second placing to Regal Azmon 12 months earlier.

Ferivia in the following race, the Group 3 Sportsbet Proud Miss Stakes (1200m), is yet another outstanding prospect for the stable on the day.

It promises to be a wonderful day’s racing to wind up the 2026 Sportsbet Adelaide Racing Carnival.

Hopefully we will see you there.
