Carnival ends in style with metro win

10 November 2025

A stunning wire-to-wire ride from apprentice jockey Isaac Sit has closed the 2025 Spring Racing Carnival at Morphettville in style on Champion Stakes Day last Saturday.

Aboard Super Alana, Sit scored his first metropolitan winner in the Sportsbet More Places Handicap (Heat of the Sportsbet Riziz Series) over 1000m on the Morphettville Parks track.

The 21-year-old scooted to the lead aboard the mare, who fought off several challenges to hang tough for a hard-fought victory for trainers Wayne Francis and Glen Kent.

Jockey Jacob Opperman showed his class to lead Falaise through the pack for a thrilling victory in the Thomas Foods International Handicap over 1550m, making it a winning double for the day after he guided favourite Zoupurring to victory for Phillips Stokes in the SkyCity Handicap (Heat of the Sportsbet Gytrash Series) over 1250m.

As well as Opperman, jockeys Tegan Voorham and Taylor Johnstone also scored winning doubles in the final day of the 2025 Spring Racing Carnival at Morphettville.
