Fashion on the Field: Derby Day 2023

27 October 2023

Amazing weather. Longer, sunny days. Derby Day Fashion.

These are just a few of the things that go perfectly with Spring Racing, and we can’t wait to bring them all together for a return of Spring Racing Fashion, the 2023 Croser Fashions on the Field (FOTF) on Derby Day, Saturday November 4.

After a strong list of entrants for our FOTF event on Adelaide Cup Day earlier this year, we are excited to see the how entrants adapt to the monochrome Derby Day theme.

Derby Day has always been an opportunity for the fashion forward to show off their credentials and how to work a monochrome palette, and this year will be no exception.

The 2023 Derby Day Croser FOTF will step away from the traditional womenswear and menswear categories as we introduce the opportunity for entrants to be judged instead in the categories of Best Suited and Best Dressed on the day.

We are excited to announce a wealth of South Australian Fashion knowledge at experience as part of our judging panel and MC.

Lauren Dilena will return to Morphettville as MC, with Anna Vlach, Damian Porcaro and Markus Hamence forming the judging panel.

Both Markus and Damian are excited about the changes to the categories for the day.

“For ‘Best Suited’, it’s going to be the tailoring of the piece, how it fits the body, if the colour/pattern works with the day. It’s not about the label for me, it’s hands-down the absolute energy of it.

“The section of ‘Best Dressed’ is simple for me. I want to see how the piece being worn is pulled together with the accessories, be it the hat, jewellery, bag etc. But it doesn’t stop there! I want to see the personality wearing the outfit. Own it and express that attitude. If you want to wear the kitchen sink on your head, you BETTER make that work,” Markus said.

“This year the focus is on tailoring and silhouettes, and as a judge I’m excited to see the entrants in both the Best Dressed and Best Suited categories. Fashion stakes are high so put your best foot forward,” Damian said.

We will have prizes for the winner and runner-up in each category including:
