Freedom Flame will look to fly the South Australian flag in Saturday’s Group 2 Wakeful Stakes over 2000m at Flemington.
The three-year-old filly hung on for a stunning win in the Listed Hill-Smith Stakes (1800m) on October 18 at Morphettville, holding off the fast-finishing Different Gravy.
The $35 roughie held on by a nose and trainer Andrew Gluyas thinks Freedom Flame will be further suited by a rise to 2000m on Saturday.

The Wakeful Stakes has eluded Macdonald Gluyas Racing despite various strong performances in the race – including four placings.
The Oaks remains a possibility for Freedom Flame, but the filly will have to convince the trainer, with star jockey Jamie Melham on board in Saturday’s Wakeful Stakes.
Gluyas will also have Watchme Win feature in the G.H. Mumm Rising Fast Stakes over 1200m.
Stretan Angel will look to make it back-to-back wins when the Phillip Stokes-trained mare saddles up in the Kirin Ichiban Sprint over 1100m at Flemington on Saturday.
The five-year-old stormed home the Caulfield straight a fortnight ago to win the Manhari Alinghi Stakes over 1100m and is one of two runners for Stokes on the day.
Regal Award will run in the opening race of the day, the Channel 9 Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m, and jockey Lachlan Neindorf will be on board both chances.
