A highlight of SAJC Members’ Day was an engaging panel discussion with leading South Australian jockeys Brooke King and Jacob Opperman, who reflected on their racing journeys, career highlights and ambitions for the future.

Opperman spoke about his rapid rise through the ranks, including the memorable achievement of riding five winners at Morphettville on a single day before backing it up with another two victories at Murray Bridge the following afternoon.

He also discussed competing in Listed and Group 3 company, his ride aboard Kazaru in this year’s Thomas Farms SA Derby and his recent Listed success aboard Verzain.

King shared the story of her impressive progression in metropolitan racing, reflecting on her first city winner aboard Nasho and her breakthrough first full season in Adelaide, where she climbed into the top 10 of the Metropolitan Jockey Premiership.

She also spoke about the dedication and determination that has driven her success at the highest level of South Australian racing.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, one lucky attendee walked away with a complimentary 2026/27 SAJC Membership after discovering the blackberry filling inside their Lemon Meringue Tart and there was also a Scratch & Win promotion throughout the day.

Members were also introduced to the 2026/27 Member Referral Competition, giving them the opportunity to win the ultimate Melbourne Cup Day experience by encouraging friends and family to join the Club.

The South Australian Jockey Club extends its sincere thanks to every Member and Guest who attended and helped make SAJC Members’ Day such a memorable success.
